Size and Weight Discrimination

Friday, December 16th, 2011

The nonprofit Council on Size and Weight Discrimination works to change attitudes about weight and acts as an advocate for larger people in a variety of arenas, including the job market. The Council believes that “All people, no matter what their weight, deserve equal treatment.” They also say “employers can insist that their public representatives be well groomed, appropriately dressed, personable, and physically capable of doing the job well. But any criterion which excludes an entire group of people–African Americans, people with disabilities, or larger-than-average people–is unacceptable.” Check out the Council on Size and Weight Discrimination website today.
