The U.S. Labor Department is accusing Cargill Meat Solutions of discriminating against more than 4,000 qualified job applicants for entry-level jobs at the company’s Arkansas plant. The federal government has alleged that women and non-Asian job applicants were unfairly refused employment opportunities and at stake is a $550 million Department of Defense contract, which may be put on hold until the allegations are addressed. For it’s part, Cargill has denied the allegations and highlighted that 84% of the 1,300 people working at the plant are minorities.
